Two Parties, One London Wedding Celebration – Night One
To create an exclusive, 1950s New York, stylish celebration with a party atmosphere, dancing, food and drink and entertainment for over 750 guests ...with a six week lead time.
Transporting our guests to a glamorous time of parties, hedonism and style of 1950s New York, we transformed the Grand Ballroom of the Chancery Rosewood in Mayfair into an elegant space of shimmering lights, colourful flowers, with mood lighting, comfortable seating, places to dance, eat and observe.
We were delighted to be the first major private event in the ballroom since the Chancery Rosewood opened on 1st September 2025.
Guests arrived for a drinks reception in the ballroom foyer. Two champagne hoop artists provided focal points of entertainment, pouring champagne for guests whilst they gathered.
We wanted the furniture to fit the aesthetic and brought it metal fluted bar tables, curved velvet upholstered chairs ands tools to ensure the look was stylish, and retro to fit with the cascading pendant tube lighting, and the lighting behind the cocktail bar, collectively creating a glamorous atmosphere of the 50s era in the ballroom. Large floral arrangements of brightly coloured flowers pulled your eye up and through the high ceilinged space.
As the format of the celebration was a reception and not a sit down dinner, we wanted to ensure we had key focal areas for guests to feel drawn towards. We achieved this flow by creating a custom built, four sided, central bar. With a fluted bar front and hanging tungsten pendent light bulbs suspended from a frame above the bar, it was visually striking as well as practical and created a focal point away from the food and tables, and set back from the dance floor.
Lighting was hugely important in enticing people to all parts of the room. We wanted to ensure that each area was well lit and inviting enough to draw people over. We did this with colour, visuals, lighting patterns and scale. With such a large capacity, this was an important element to ensure there was minimal overcrowding in areas.
The stage needed to be a real eye catcher. We loved the addition of the copper plated circular dance floor, which gave off so much extra reflected light when combined with the stage lighting. The stage also added to this ambience: the custom built arched backdrop of Hollywood lights around the two name initials of the wedding couple, positioned in front of images of New York, drew your eye to the back of the room. Together with the tube lighting around each of the musicians’ platforms and the copper fronted stage verticals, all of it came together to set the stage for the show.
At the reception, we had six New York style show girls with feather headdresses roaming and engaging with the guests, whilst they were served canapés, champagne and cocktails before the arrival of the bride and groom.
Three food stations placed around the far edge of the room, had a range of cuisines available from Mediterranean, to sushi and seafood, with desserts served later.
The programme of entertainers included a group of New York jazz dancers who delivered an up-tempo 1920s style show, A glitter ball acrobatic performer wowed with her flexibility. And a crimson dressed balloon girl had everyone laughing along with her show before the final burlesque performance ended the entertainment for the night.
