Surrealist Themed Milestone Birthday Celebration, Berkshire
We had an absolute ball organising this Surrealist themed celebration to mark three birthdays at the family's home in Berkshire. The clients came to us with the theme and some creative ideas and asked us to help bring it all together on time and in budget.
As the 190 guests arrived, they weaved through the trees in the garden, passing a performer who was positioned who was body painted to look like the tree trunk. Another performer was painted to look like a parrot and another a giraffe. As they arrived at the reception guests passed a surrealist installation of red rose stems growing straight up from the ground complete with low lying mist.
The outdoor drinks reception had an accompanying Irish band for entertainment before being summoned into the marquee. The stretch tent marquee, provided by Marble Structures, was decorated by Studio Viola using suspended umbrellas, clouds, bowler hats, knives and forks, lampshades and cages overhead. Whilst the tables had a range of lobsters, eggs, melted clocks and cages to tie it all together. All front of house staff, bar staff and crew were in costume as well, ensuring no man, woman or thing was excluded from the aesthetic.
Guests were treated to an inventive menu with a touch of the surreal from caterer Tom Thornton and team. The first course was soup, with each serving given a smiley face, whilst the main course was a crowd pleasing chicken and chips. Pudding was a melted clock decorated chocolate birthday cake. Then on to the speeches where everyone agreed it was an incredible party theme and celebration.
After dinner they enjoyed a spectacular firework display which allowed our staff to shift tempo and prepare for the after party. The bar team filled the length of the bar with espresso martinis to kick start the rest of the evening. The superstar DJ kept the dance floor packed, with guests enthusiastically showing off their moves on the optically distorted floor until 4am.
